A Note From the
Continuing Education Coordinator

Did you know that NEO-RLS assigns learning levels to our continuing education offerings? These three distinct categories can help you find the content that best fits your needs. The three levels are:

Foundational - Focus on learning; Covers basic concepts, theories, and terminology; Serves as a pre-requisite to Intermediate and Advanced levels

Intermediate - Assumes understanding of basic concepts, theories and terminology; Focus on applying and enhancing knowledge or skill; Builds upon prerequisite knowledge, expanding upon fundamental concepts, theories and principles

Advanced - Involves higher and more complex levels of knowledge and understanding than introductory or intermediate learning; requires a level of knowledge and understanding of a particular area or topic that goes beyond basic terminology and definitions; You are able to participate in senior level discussions regarding this area or topic

To find these learning levels, look for the logos pictured below. They are located on our event registration pages, our CE Calendar, as well as our Archived Webinars Library.

Have a great day!

2024 Conservation/Preservation Grant Workshop will be in May

The State Library of Ohio, in partnership with the Ohio Preservation Council (OPC), is pleased to announce the availability of LSTA funds of up to $4,999 for libraries to conserve a single item or preserve a small, discrete group of items within their collections. The item(s) selected for conservation/preservation should be unique, valuable (culturally or monetarily), and as a cultural artifact speak to the mission and values of the applying institution. Additionally, as a cultural artifact or collection it should reflect some element of the historic and artistic record of Ohio. This is in accordance with goals outlined in The State Library of Ohio’s Five Year LSTA Plan. All analog formats, including book and paper, object, and artwork are appropriate.

Under this special program, prospective applicants must attend the workshop on May8, 2024 prior to submitting a grant application. This workshop will prepare applying institutions for submitting a successful application. By attending the workshop, prospective applicants will gain knowledge of the criteria for selecting materials for conservation/preservation, basic evaluation considerations, finding a conservator, working with conservators, contracts and insurance, and treatment documentation.
