A Note From the
Executive Director

Today, I am happy to highlight some NEO-RLS services and programs tailored for academic libraries.

Mark your calendars for the Academic Director's Meeting on March 8th, hosted at Hiram College from 2 pm to 4 pm. Don’t miss this opportunity to network, share best practices, and discuss the future of academic libraries.

Check out a new addition to our Archived Webinar Library, "Trans History Linked! An Introduction to the Digital Transgender Archive." Featuring speaker Leslie Beegle, Research Assistant and Lab Coordinator for the Digital Transgender Archive, this webinar offers insight into an invaluable resource for researchers interested in transgender history.

Planning for the future is crucial for all library types, and NEO-RLS is here to help. Drawing from our experience working with institutions like Ursuline College in 2023, we offer customizable strategic planning services that address the unique challenges and goals of academic libraries. If you are interested in strategic planning, reach out to me at ragan.snead@neo-rls.org.

Have a great day!

Directors' Retreat

Mark your calendars for the annual Directors' Retreat, Thursday and Friday, May 23 & 24, 2024 at Punderson Manor.  More information coming soon.

Today's Spotlight:
Rachel DiScipio Ketler, Marketing Specialist at Massillon Public Library

"Rachel has been with the library for only about a year and a half, but she is a wonderful addition to the staff. Always pleasant, helpful and creative, she works in the Marketing Department and takes care of promoting our many programs and services, gently crossing over to interact with every single department and branch in our system. In addition, she herself presents programs on creative writing and more, as she is actually an author herself. Rachel has made it possible for many of our patrons to begin or continue with their own journey as writers and also to be published. This is something new at our library, and it is all due to her! I'm not Rachel's supervisor, but she DID attend programs given by me when she was a child, so I do have a special place in my heart for her. However, she has earned all the praise by being great at her job!"

Summer Reading Grants

A reminder that applications for the Ohio LSTA Summer Library Program grant are due by February 20. This grant program is to empower Ohio libraries to enhance their 2024 SLP with library-led activities that spark creativity and productivity, engage individuals, and benefit their communities. Libraries may apply for up to $2000 in federal LSTA funds to support their SLP, and must provide 25% of the total project cost in local matching funds.

Libraries may use awarded federal funds to purchase program materials, supplies, and/or contractual services for the activities offered to the community during summer 2024. Public, school, academic, and special libraries in Ohio are eligible. Learn more and apply:
