Ohio Ready to Read is planning several exciting learning opportunities for library workers who serve young children and their families.
Registration will open on March 1 for Storytime Foundations, a FREE one-day conference on everything storytime! Morning and afternoon keynote speakers will contextualize our important work in support of littles and their families. Librarian-led breakout sessions will explore the Five Practices of Every Child Ready to Read (Singing, Talking, Reading, Writing, Playing). Storytime Foundations will take place in Columbus on Tuesday, April 30. Registration will be posted to the Ohio Ready to Read website and the State Library’s CE calendar. Next week’s Friday Update will include the registration link.
Registration for two Early Literacy 101 workshops will open in March. Mark your calendars for this FREE training for new and seasoned library workers in children’s services and outreach. Participants will learn how brain development impacts how young children learn, and will explore effective, research-based early literacy resources and activities. Upcoming Early Literacy 101 workshops include:
Friday May 10 – Wood County District Public Library, Bowling Green
Tuesday, May 21 – Akron-Summit County Public Library
Registration will be posted to the Ohio Ready to Read website

The Performer Directory for Ohio Libraries has been updated with new submissions received since the directory was first published in January.
This compilation of recommendations submitted by Ohio librarians and library workers includes performers and other program presenters for audiences of all ages, for summer or throughout the year.
The Performer Directory is a spreadsheet that you can download and sort by type of program, audience age range, or any other field.
It will be updated regularly as more recommendations are submitted.
Have a recommendation to add? Complete this form to recommend your favorite performers and other program presenters. This form is exclusively for the use of Ohio librarians and library workers. You may complete the form multiple times if you have multiple performers/presenters to recommend. The form will remain open indefinitely, so you can also add recommendations in the future. Please submit only performers/presenters whose work you are directly familiar with and who you would recommend to other Ohio libraries, and who are willing/able to travel to other Ohio libraries to do their programs.
