A Note from the

Executive Director

The NEO-RLS team would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our recent one-question survey, Looking Ahead Together: How Can NEO-RLS Help? Your input has been invaluable in shaping our priorities for the coming months and guiding the development of our next strategic plan.

We received 79 thoughtful responses! Here are some of the key themes that emerged:

Advocacy & Legislative Awareness: Many of you emphasized the need for stronger advocacy efforts, especially in light of current political and funding challenges. Suggestions included regular updates on statehouse developments, support for advocacy initiatives, and tools to communicate with legislators and communities.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA): A strong call was made to continue supporting DEIA-aligned programs. Respondents highlighted the importance of inclusivity and the library’s role in creating safe, affirming spaces for all.

Professional Development & Training: There was a high demand for continued and expanded training opportunities, particularly in the areas of communication, crisis management, technology, cataloging, and working with diverse populations.

Support for Staff Well-being: Several responses touched on the emotional toll of working in libraries today, including dealing with trauma, safety concerns, and burnout. You asked for resources and training to help staff navigate these challenges with resilience and confidence.

Collaboration & Networking: You expressed a desire for more opportunities to connect with peers through shared learning and networking opportunities.

Stay tuned for updates as we begin incorporating your feedback into our upcoming programs and strategic planning.

Thank you again for your insights and support! Your voices are helping us chart a course that is responsive, inclusive, and forward-thinking.
