Registration is Now Open for the 2024 Directors' Retreat:  Fostering a Thriving Work Culture
May 23-24, 2024

We are excited to announce the 2024 Directors' Retreat:  Fostering a Thriving Work Culture.  We will be returning to the Punderson Manor Lodge & Conference Center this year. The retreat will kick off with a light breakfast on Thursday, May 23rd at 9:00 a.m. - the perfect time to catch up with your peers. The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. starting with Leading through Low-Morale Experiences: Recognizing Outcomes & Engaging Countermeasures.  The afternoon will focus on How to Talk so your Board will Listen: Education, Communication, and Transformation.  We will conclude the first day at 4:00 p.m. Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. with the tradition of rich conversations to follow. The second day will start with breakfast at 8:00 a.m. followed by a program on Creating a Compassionate Workplace. We will conclude at noon with a quick lunch.  Click this event link for all the details and to register.

Registration is now open for Storytime Foundations, a FREE one-day conference on everything storytime, taking place in Columbus on Tuesday, April 30!

Build a strong foundation in your storytime programs. Whether you are new to storytime planning or you’ve been doing it for years, this conference will give you an opportunity to learn new ideas, refresh yourself on storytime techniques, and network with others from around the state. Based on the Five Practices from the Every Child Ready to Read initiative, you will gain knowledge in the areas of playing, reading, writing, talking, and singing.

Keynote speakers Dr. Laura Justice (Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and Policy, The Ohio State University) and Dr. Katie Campana (School of Information, Kent State University) will contextualize your important work in support of young children and their families. Librarian-led breakout sessions will explore storytime applications of the Five Practices.

Storytime Foundations is planned and produced by Ohio Ready to Read, a partnership initiative of the Ohio Library Council and State Library of Ohio that helps librarians and library workers to educate Ohio's families on the importance of early childhood literacy.
