A Note from the

Executive Director

With so many libraries getting ready for their Staff Development Days, I can’t help but reflect on how meaningful these days have been in my own library journey. Some of my favorite memories from my time working in libraries are from Staff Days. I’ve had the opportunity to participate in, help plan, and even present at these special events. No matter the role, I always came away feeling inspired and reconnected to the heart of library work.

Staff Development Days offer a valuable opportunity to step away from daily routines, focus on growth, and reconnect with the “why” behind the work we do. Whether your day includes workshops, team-building activities, or time to reflect and recharge, it’s all about investing in yourself and your colleagues.

If you’re participating in your library’s Staff Day next week, I hope you make the most of it! Enjoy the sessions, the conversations, and maybe even a few good snacks. Here’s to a day filled with learning, connection, and appreciation for the incredible work you all do every day!

Stark Library Celebrates New Chapter at Opening of Temporary Location

The downtown Stark County Main Library opened October 6 in a new temporary location. The downtown branch has been closed since Aug. 30, when employees began to move materials into the temporary library location at 1020 Market Ave. N. An estimated 140,000 materials, including books, magazines and DVDs, made the trip down the street. The library will operate out of the temporary location for three years while construction is underway on a new library campus at the site of the old Main Library.
