A Note From the
Executive Director

Ready to shape the future of the Northeast Ohio Regional Library System? Consider contributing your skills and perspectives to our Advisory Groups and Standing Board Committees.

The following volunteer opportunities are available:

Advisory Groups include Continuing Education, Marketing/PR, DEIA Strategies, Technology, and Youth Services.

Standing Board Committees include Awards, Bylaws/Policy, and Finance.

  • These opportunities are open to all library staff working in a NEO-RLS member library, regardless of position.
  • We're committed to cultivating diverse groups that reflect our membership, bringing varied perspectives and experiences to our decision-making process.
  • You do not need to be an expert on the topic to join an Advisory Group or Board Committee. Perspectives from all levels and experiences are valued and appreciated.
  • These opportunities are a great way to network with peers and gain professional development.

If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, contact me at ragan.snead@neo-rls.org.

Have a great day!

CSLP PSAs and Social Media Toolkit to promote your 2024 Summer Library Program

The Collaborative Summer Library Program is happy to announce that the 2024 Adventure Begins at Your Library PSA for public libraries is now available.

Check it out: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMzgSsBYJ-g

Share the PSA with local media, across your social media channels, with local partners, and display it in your library. The main PSA, available in both English and Spanish, is a 30-second video with a tagline that you can load and launch as-is. Additionally, there is a “clean slate” version available for brief customization at the end, should you want to add your library’s logo and event information.

CSLP is also offering short segments pulled from the original for use on social media. New this year is an animated “poster” which can be displayed on a computer screen or display monitor to promote summer reading within your building.

Find the PSA in many file formats for broadcast and non-broadcast, plus the social media clips, animated poster, and more:

www.cslpreads.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/CSLP-2024-PSA.pdf

You can also access the PSA files through the 2024 CSLP online manual.  Access the manual here: www.cslpreads.org/2024-adventure-begins-at-your-library/ using your access code, then look in the right-hand column.

CSLP has also created posts and graphics for your library to use on social media, available in the 2024 Adventure Begins at your Library Social Media toolkit. You'll find pre-written posts, ready-to-go graphics, Adventure Begins at Your Library brand guidelines (with fonts & a color palate) and customizable Canva templates in this resource. This year's campaign hashtags are #LibraryAdventures and #CSLPreads.

New--Free Adult Program from Holden Forests & Gardens

Cleveland Botanical Garden and Holden Arboretum are proud to introduce a new, free 30-minute speaker program for our community partners in Lake, Geauga, and Cuyahoga counties! Through our People For Trees initiative, we have launched our Green Team Ambassadors, who will come present about how the tree canopy has changed in northeast Ohio, how these changes are impacting our quality of life, and what Holden Forests & Gardens is doing to mitigate those changes. Find out how you can support our People for Trees movement by joining a vast community of concerned citizens across northeast Ohio who are working to restore our tree canopy, starting in their own backyard.

Additionally, we continue to offer hour-long paid speakers programs for $150 on a number of other topics, including native plants, edible gardening, and pollinator gardens. All speakers can be requested through our website. The free program is exclusive to our service area counties (Lake/Geauga/Cuyahoga), while paid programs can be booked outside that range for an additional mileage fee.
