A Note From the
Executive Director

I am excited to announce the expansion of our Library Spotlight section in the NEO-RLS newsletter! In addition to showcasing outstanding programs and initiatives, we now invite you to give a well-deserved shout-out or kudos to your library colleagues.

This is an excellent opportunity for our NEO-RLS community to come together and recognize the hard work, dedication, and innovation happening within our libraries. Whether it's a colleague who has implemented an innovative program, demonstrated exceptional customer service, shown leadership in a challenging situation, or simply made your day a little brighter - we want to hear about it!

To make submissions easy and streamlined, we have created a brief submission form for both library news and recognizing colleagues. You can access the form here.

We look forward to sharing and celebrating your contributions in upcoming newsletters.

Have a great day!

Guiding Ohio Online Technology Trainer

Applications are now being accepted for public libraries to host a Guiding Ohio Online Technology Trainer.  Guiding Ohio Online is a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA)-funded program created to assist libraries serving rural populations. Guiding Ohio Online Technology Trainers help Ohioans develop the skills needed to fully participate in the digital age.

Trainers will serve in selected libraries during the program year, July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025.  The Guiding Ohio Online application, program information, resources, and reporting forms are available on our website. Applications are due March 25, 2024. Applicants interested in receiving feedback prior to the submission deadline may turn in a draft application to LSTA@library.ohio.gov no later than March 18th.

A reminder that starting this week, Google and Yahoo will enforce best practices for email sent to Gmail and Yahoo recipients. Google has published detailed guidance for ensuring your library's email is delivered to Gmail inboxes successfully.

Configuring DMARC for your mail domain, even with a policy of "none," gives you visibility into how recipient mailservers handle your mail by providing you with DMARC deliverability reports. Reviewing DMARC reports can help find misconfigurations of your SPF and DKIM records, among other issues.

OPLIN is hosting an instance of parsedmarc to help you manage your DMARC reports without a subscription product. Parsedmarc summarizes DMARC reports for easy review in a Kibana dashboard and weekly CSV summaries. To add an account for your library, please email support@oplin.ohio.gov.
