Executive Director

Mark your calendars for the NEO-RLS 2023 Annual Membership Meeting & Appreciation Breakfast on Wednesday, November 15, 2023! This in-person event is open to library administrators, trustees, and staff. 

At the meeting, you will learn about NEO-RLS's financial progress, future plans, and the services we offer. We will celebrate the contributions of those who supported NEO-RLS over the past year. 

Our keynote presentation will focus on trends and statistics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, facilitating intergenerational learning, creating authentic work environments, and practicing self-care. Speakers Chinenye Nkemere and Bethany Studenic bring a wealth of experience and expertise in community engagement, advocacy, and social work.  

The morning will conclude with the announcement of the 2022-2023 Rising Star, Shooting Star, and Advocacy Award recipients and honorees. This is a wonderful opportunity to congratulate them on their achievements.

NEO-RLS wants to provide you with the best customer service.  In order to do that we will be closing registrations for in-person programs 7 days before the event.  This will allow us time for coordinating meals, handouts, and everything else that goes into running a smooth program. Please register early.

 Ohio LSTA Competitive Grant Application is Now Open

The events of the last few years have provided libraries of all types with countless opportunities to reexamine and reinvent the ways they support the people and communities they serve. During that time Ohio libraries have launched innovative and creative solutions with an unwavering commitment to the values and principles of library service. The State Library applauds these efforts and is here to help Ohio libraries continue to develop and enhance programs and services to meet the needs of their communities. Ohio LSTA Grants are an essential part of our service, and we encourage all types of libraries to submit proposals for Ohio LSTA Competitive Grants. This grant initiative supports State Library of Ohio’s new LSTA Five Year Plan 2023-2027 and invites proposals that address at least one of the following three focus areas:

Registration for ODNFest 2023: A Five-Year Celebration is now open

For the first time since 2019, ODNFest will be held in-person at the State Library of Ohio on October 10, 2023. This event will feature digital collection topics and discussions, with updates from Ohio Digital Network staff.

Finding Balance: Hybrid Spaces, New Opportunities & Transformed Missions -October 27 & November 2-3, 2023

Conference events and offerings will include:

• A Virtual ILS Forum & Mini-Conference
• A Thursday, in-person pre-conference workshop hosted by Pamela Espinosa de los Monteros and Shannon Simpson
• A Thursday evening social event at the nearby Olentangy River Brewing Company
• Hybrid simulcast of the conference keynote by Trevor Dawes
• A Hybrid Track Room at the in-person conference venue where sessions will be simulcast live online throughout the day
