Northeast Ohio Regional Library System - Event Information - Northeast Ohio Regional Library System
Construction and Facilities Network Meeting
This session will be based on Geauga County Public Library's workplace safety program. This won't be a class on developing a program, but a discussion about how we, as libraries, are not exempt from following regulations. Topics will range from Federal OSHA standards to working with a library's local building department. Some library administrative staff are not aware of the requirements or feel overwhelmed in figuring out how to implement them. This presentation will help define what needs to be done, and help chart a course of compliance.
Topics to be discussed:
What we can and cannot do in-house
Patrick Jolly has been in Facilities with Geauga County Public Library for over 27 years. Over the years, Patrick has not only been involved in building maintenance, but also helped develop and implement the safety program for Geauga Library. In his current position as Facilities Manager, he has helped establish the program of Geauga County Public Library as an example of a successful non-industrial Workplace Safety Program. He has researched and utilizes resources from the federal OSHA standards, the Ohio BW, Dept. of Homeland Security and local authorities.
Patrick has presented his different programs for several libraries, as well as several BWC endorsed area Safety Councils, as well as the Ohio Safety Congress in Columbus.
After the presentation, join your colleagues for a round table discussion about the latest issues affecting construction and facilities in libraries. Please send agenda items to Shawna Keringer.
