From Maker to Market. Supporting Next Steps for Entrepreneurial Makers. April 29. Online via Zoom.

A Note from the

Executive Director

National Library Week is here! This is a time to celebrate the essential role libraries and library workers play in our communities and to advocate for the continued support they deserve. This year’s celebration feels especially meaningful with Mychal Threets serving as Honorary Chair. His enthusiasm for libraries, equity of access, and the joy of reading has inspired so many, and we were incredibly fortunate to welcome him to our Open House last year.

At its heart, this week is about celebrating people. The individuals who believe in the right to read, who show up every day to serve their communities, and who find creative ways to meet patrons where they are. It’s also a reminder of why library work matters. At NEO-RLS, supporting library workers is truly our “why,” and we continue to be inspired by the impact you make.

We’d love to hear how your library is celebrating this week. Whether it’s a program, display, or outreach effort, your stories help highlight the importance of libraries across our region. Feel free to send along information and photos to jill.grunenwald@neo-rls.org.

Happy National Library Week!

Celebrate National Library Week With the Theme "Find Your Joy"

National Library Week is an opportunity to recognize the important contributions of libraries and library staff throughout Ohio and across the country, while encouraging communities to use and support these essential hubs. It’s also a time to celebrate library workers and reflect on the sense of discovery and joy that libraries bring to everyday life. View a message from State Librarian Mandy Knapp here.

 Happy National Library Outreach Day

April 22 is National Library Outreach Day (formally National Bookmobile Day), one of the many days we celebrate as part of National Library Week. We want to take a moment to recognize all the libraries and librarians who are finding innovative ways to reach their patrons where they are. From book talks at senior centers, mobile pantries, taking the bookmobile to local events, maintaining free little libraries around the city, and more, these services provide important connections with your communities!

Email our Marketing & Engagement Coordinator Jill at jill.grunenwald@neo-rls.org if you have a story from your library you want to share.
