A Note from the

Executive Director

Spring brings a new opportunity to get involved!

We’re excited to announce that nominations are now open for multiple seats on the NEO-RLS Board of Trustees. Board members will serve a three-year term from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029.

Emails with a link to the nomination form were sent to library representatives on April 1. Nominations will be accepted through April 30, with elections on May 1.

To be eligible to run, you must be the designated representative for your  library. Library Directors serve as the  representative, or they can appoint another individual to take on this role.

If you’re interested in running, or if you know someone who would be a great fit, please keep an eye out for the nomination link. If you do not receive it, feel free to reach out to me at ragan.snead@neo-rls.org so we can make sure you have access.

Serving on the board is a meaningful way to get involved, contribute to the direction of NEO-RLS, and support libraries across our region. If you have any questions or would like more information, I’m always happy to chat, or you’re welcome to connect with current board members to hear about their experiences.

Thank you for your continued engagement and support!

State Library of Ohio to Assume Administration of SearchOhio Consortium

The State Library of Ohio is pleased to announce that it will assume administration of SearchOhio, an interlibrary loan partnership. SearchOhio is unique among Ohio's library consortia in its facilitation of statewide sharing among both public libraries and academic libraries participating in OhioLINK.

SearchOhio is a statewide consortium of 49 public libraries that share collections to maximize resources and broaden access for patrons. The consortium provides access to more than 18 million items, which is nearly half of all physical materials held by Ohio's public libraries and supports approximately 750,000 loan transactions each year.

The State Library and the Westerville Public Library are collaborating closely on the transition, with full administrative responsibilities expected to shift to the State Library by January 2027.

Wellsville Carnegie Public Library Celebrates Ohio's Transportation History

In 2026, Ohio is celebrating and commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States by exploring all the ways that Ohio has contributed to U.S. history for 250+ years. Each month there is a different theme that reflects Ohio’s unique impact

April's theme is Ohio Moves: Transportation. To celebrate, Wellsville Carnegie Public Library has a special display in the vestibule that includes items on loan from the Wellsville Historical Society and a collection of related books suitable for all ages!

See photos of the items on display by visiting Wellsville Carnegie Public Library's Facebook page.
