Executive Director

Seats Are Filling Fast—Register Today for the Customer Service Conference!

Join us for the Customer Service Conference: Perspectives, Possibilities, and Practices on Thursday, April 3, 2025! Designed specifically for frontline library staff, this event will provide fresh insights, practical tools, and valuable networking opportunities to help you enhance customer interactions and create welcoming, inclusive library experiences.

In addition to the engaging sessions, we’re excited to introduce a live demo of the Customer Service Simulation, developed in partnership with Aegis 360. This innovative training tool presents real-life scenarios tailored for library staff, equipping frontline employees with the skills to navigate a variety of patron interactions—from routine questions to more complex situations. We are exploring ways to integrate this simulation into future continuing education, consulting services, and potential vendor discounts, ensuring maximum value for our member libraries.

Don’t miss out—visit the event page for details and secure your spot today!

Have a great day!

Libraries and the Summer Food Service Program (SUN Meals/SFSP)

2025 Update

Does your library serve summer meals or snacks, or are you interested in being a meal site or supporting other meal sites in your area? Many libraries in Ohio and around the USA participate in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP, now branded as SUN Meals), a USDA-funded program that provides free meals and snacks to children ages 0-18 in communities with high levels of need. In 2024, over one out of every 10 SFSP sites in Ohio was a public library!

If you are already a SUN Meals site (or have been a site in the past), work with your regular sponsor to prepare for summer 2025. If your location is designated rural by the USDA, ask your sponsor about the SUN Meals To-Go non-congregate option.

If you want to become a SUN Meals site, find out if you are in an eligible area using the USDA's Capacity Builder map.

Visit the State Library's SUN Meals webpage to learn more about the program!
