A Note from the
Executive Director
Join Us for the Day for Collection Management and Technical Services!
We’re excited to invite you to a full day dedicated to collection management and technical services on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM at Twinsburg Public Library. This in-person event will feature expert speakers covering key topics to help you enhance your library’s collections and technical processes.
The day will kick off with "Curating Community Collections: The Critical Role of Technical Services," an interactive session exploring the impact of diversity in collections and how selectors, acquisition teams, catalogers, and processors can work together to meet community needs. Presenters Wendy Bartlett and Mary Schreiber will provide practical insights into diversity audits, selection and acquisition strategies, and ways to avoid common pitfalls in cataloging and processing.
Next, "Cataloging Unusual Items" will dive into the world of non-traditional library materials. Whether your library is adding tools, toys, or even ukuleles to its catalog, presenter Mist Alvaro will guide you through best practices for cataloging unique items, maximizing searchability, and using a template to simplify the process.
Finally, "Take Advantage: Strategies for Successful Management of Your Library’s OverDrive Collection" will offer tips for optimizing your OverDrive Advantage collection. Presenter Kristin Casale will share techniques for setting holds ratios, staying within budget, and maximizing circulation while working within a consortium.
The day will conclude with a roundtable
discussion, allowing attendees to ask questions, share experiences, and collaborate with peers. Don't miss this valuable opportunity, register today!
