WE INVITE YOU to serve on a NEO-RLS Board Committee or Advisory Group

Have you thought about changes you would like to see at NEO-RLS?  If so, we want to encourage you to volunteer for one of our Board Committees or Advisory Groups. Contact Ragan Snead by August 29th if you have questions or are interested in volunteering. We would love to have you join us!

Ashtabula County District Library

For a little digital Summer Reading fun, the Ashtabula County District Library Digital Branch created a Pick-Your-Path Adventure Story for our Summer Reading website.

The family friendly story spans both physical branch locations and features characters based on real historic icons from ACDL's history. The reader is recruited as a Time Agent and is sent on a mission to prevent nefarious the Feline Fiends from taking over our universe! Will you pick the right path and avoid disaster?

All participants receive a real-life reward at the end of the adventure (a Time Agent or Feline Fiend button, depending on their decisions).

You can test it out yourself at https://www.acdl.info/summer/srcstory (but we can't mail anyone a button, sorry!)

ODNFest 2024: Save the Date and Call for Proposals

The State Library of Ohio will be hosting the 6th Annual ODNFest as an in-person event on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024. ODNFest is an opportunity for library and museum digitization professionals to gather to explore current and relevant digitization topics. The ODNFest name comes from the Ohio Digital Network (ODN), Ohio’s Digital Public Library of America (DPLA)’s service hub. Attendees do not have to work at institutions that are  contributors in order to participate or present at ODNfest.

The State Library of Ohio is seeking proposals for programs on the topic of libraries and digitization. Program formats may include standard presentation, panel presentation, or poster session. Proposals are due on Friday, August 2nd, 2024, and may be submitted via Microsoft forms.

Proposals must include:

  • Session title and format type;
  • Abstract (250 words) describing the session/panel/poster and how it relates to the topic of libraries and digitization;
  • Session description (150 words) for the program;
  • Contact information for the primary presenter and any other participants;
  • A/V or technology requirements; and
  • Any additional special needs

Proposals will be evaluated based on interest and relevance to the topic of digitization in Ohio, completeness of proposal, and diversity of content and speakers. The State Library encourages proposals from new or established professionals, first-time presenters and attendees, individuals from related professions, as well as those from outside the state of Ohio. Notification of proposal acceptance will provided late August 2024.

Questions regarding ODNFest or ODN may be directed to Library Consultant Penelope Shumaker, pshumaker@library.ohio.gov.
