A Note From the

Executive Director

Today, we express our heartfelt appreciation to two extraordinary individuals who will conclude their terms on our Board of Trustees on June 30th: Mariana Branch and Teanna Weeks. Their dedicated service, unique perspectives, and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in advancing our mission. Both Mariana and Teanna have devoted countless hours and immense energy to NEO-RLS, and their contributions will have a lasting impact.

As a reminder to our members, you too can play a vital role in NEO-RLS governance. We welcome volunteers from all positions and experience levels. Your voice is essential, and there are several ways you can contribute:

Board Committees:

  • Finance
  • Awards
  • Bylaws and Policy

Advisory Groups:

  • Technology
  • DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) Strategies
  • Marketing/PR
  • Special Libraries

  • Youth Services

By joining a committee or advisory group, you can help shape the future of NEO-RLS and ensure that our services and programs meet the evolving needs of our library community. For more information or to volunteer, contact ragan.snead@neo-rls.org.

Please join the Ohio Digitization Interest Group for our July in-person meeting at 10AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the State Library of Ohio to discuss vendor experiences.

Register to attend: Open until Friday July 12, 5pm, or until room capacity of 50 is reached at https://forms.gle/md36sfRr2GG6ejKj8

Topic:  Talking 'bout Vendors

In our work with digitization and digital preservation, most of us use vendors for various parts of the process—ranging from purchasing equipment, outsourcing the capture and metadata/OCR/transcription, cloud storage platforms, to discovery platforms, and more.

For this meeting we are seeking folks for lightning talks about a vendor experience, then we will break into small discussion groups focused on different types of vendor products. (Volunteer to share your experience by filling out this form for speakers by July 1:  https://forms.gle/k1ikZUegxEcqqPLQ7 )

About OhioDIG: The Ohio Digitization Interest Group is an informal discussion group open to all with an interest in cultural heritage digitization, description, access, and digital preservation. https://ohiodig.org
