The Cleveland Heights–University Heights Public Library is seeking an experienced and collaborative Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, cleanliness, and safe operation of library buildings and grounds across our system. This leadership position plays an important role in supporting welcoming, functional, and sustainable library spaces for staff and the community.
The Facilities Manager oversees approximately 150,000 square feet across five library buildings and five acres of grounds and supervises facilities staff, contractors, and vendors supporting daily operations and long-term maintenance projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and oversee building maintenance, custodial services, groundskeeping, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities across all library locations
Supervise facilities personnel, including scheduling, training, performance management, and daily operations
Coordinate and monitor contractors, vendors, and service providers for maintenance and improvement projects
Respond to facility emergencies and provide after-hours support as needed
Assist in developing and managing the facilities budget, including monitoring expenditures and obtaining bids and proposals
Maintain records related to inspections, warranties, contracts, maintenance history, and service agreements
Support compliance with building, environmental, and safety regulations
Collaborate with library administration and department managers on facilities projects and operational needs
Support sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives related to library facilities and operations
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible building and grounds maintenance experience required
Valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required
Supervisory experience preferred
Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and maintenance projects strongly preferred
Relevant facilities or maintenance certifications preferred
Must obtain Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification within the first year of employment if applicable
Work Environment
This position works across all library locations in both indoor and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to weather, dust, noise, cleaning chemicals, and maintenance equipment. The role requires a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and emergency response availability. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, bending, standing for extended periods, and working at heights above 20 feet.

Salary
Pay range: $27.60–$34.50 per hour, with starting compensation commensurate with skills, experience, and qualifications.
