This part-time position supports patrons and staff by providing hands-on assistance with everyday technology needs. This role focuses on helping users navigate desktop software, email, printing, internet access, and basic hardware troubleshooting while using the library’s public access computers. Under direct supervision, the associate develops and delivers training materials and programs that promote digital literacy and meet the library’s public education goals. The position also assists staff with technical issues as directed, contributing to a responsive and tech-friendly library environment


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provides technical assistance to patrons related to publicly accessible technology.
· Provides guidance to patrons regarding the reservation of computers, printing documents, library provided software, and Internet usage.
· Oversees the Public Computer Room and respectfully and empathetically enforces library policies on network use.
· Assists patrons with adaptive equipment and technologies.
· Performs opening and closing duties in the Public Computer Room.
· Contributes to the upkeep of the Public Computer Room through basic housekeeping and replenishing supplies.
· Responds promptly to reported problems with library provided software and hardware, troubleshoots reported problems within established boundaries, and utilizes Help Desk software when needed to document and resolve issues.
· Troubleshoots and resolves basic technical issues for staff; escalates issues as appropriate.
· Assists patrons with registration for technology training courses and individual technology appointments.
· Maintains general awareness of online and print library resources, library programming schedule, and other information about library services to respond to patrons with non-technology inquiries.
· Delivers training programs to library patrons as directed by the Technology Training Manager.
· Creates training materials for distribution to the public including printed materials, virtual deliverables, and instructional videos as directed by Technology Training Manager.
· Schedules and conducts Individual Technology Appointments in-person, on the phone, or virtually.
· Works with manager to set performance goals and objectives that support the library’s core values.
· Participates in library meetings, in-service training, workshops, and conferences.
· Maintains knowledge of profession by attending training and workshops, reviews professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
· Maintains paper and digital records/files for respective area.
· Interacts regularly with library staff, patrons and the general public.
· Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.

Qualifications & Required Skills
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, intranet, internet, and library technology systems
· Skilled in using computers, job-related software, and equipment
· Strong verbal and written communication; able to express ideas clearly and concisely
· Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and customer service skills
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment with sensitive information
· Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
· Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management
· Capable of maintaining accurate records and office procedures
· Able to work independently under general direction and prioritize tasks appropriately
· Comfortable interacting tactfully with patrons and staff of all ages
· Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and knowledge of employment-related laws
· Proficient in or able to quickly learn HRIS and talent management systems

Education and Experience:
· High School diploma or GED.
· Two years of experience assisting with hardware and software in a public library environment preferred.
· Completion of multiple computer classes or extensive personal experience with required applications and hardware is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times.
· Must be able to access and navigate each department at the Library.
· Travel by automobile is required occasionally to attend off-site meetings
