Shaker Heights Public Library seeks an energetic and creative person to join our Youth Services team. Work with children of all ages and the adults who care for them in a vibrant, collaborative atmosphere. You will help customers find information, recommend books and other media, plan programs, and assist with collection maintenance. Candidates must enjoy using technology and provide excellent customer service.

This position, while a member of the Youth Services department overall, will primarily be focused on work with teen customers of the library.

Qualifications
Qualifications:

A minimum of two years of college with a bachelors degree preferred
General knowledge of youth developmental stages
Awareness of youth literature and popular reading interests
Experience working with groups of children and teens
Ability to work days, evenings and weekends
Customer service experience
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to quickly learn new technologies
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week. This position works a variety of day, evening, and weekend hours.

Pay Information: SHPL typically hires new staff in at the entry rate of the posted pay scale. Exceptions may be made for successful applicants who have significant (5+ years) direct experience in the position at a level beyond what is expected of a new hire.
