Job Title: Outreach Librarian - 37.5 hours per week
Starting Salary: $22.27 per hour
Location: Elyria Public Library (Taylor St. non-public building)
Schedule: Typically, 8:30am-4:30pm M-F (Must be available for evenings and weekends for events and weekend rotation)


The Opportunity:

Elyria Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and community-minded Librarian to join our Outreach team. The Outreach Librarian plays a vital role in connecting children and families to library services beyond our walls. This position is all about inspiring a love of reading, sharing stories in engaging ways, and creating memorable experiences through school visits, storytimes, bookmobile stops, and community programs.

We’re looking for someone who:
· Enjoys working with children & families
· Has strong storytelling and presentation skills
· Is familiar with children’s literature and early literacy principles
· Brings creativity, innovation, and energy to program design and delivery.
· Can be adaptable and proactive in dynamic outreach environments

Key Responsibilities:
Bring Stories to Life
· Plan and deliver lively storytimes at schools, daycares, library locations, and community events that spark a lifelong love of reading.

Drive the Library on Wheels
· Rotate on the bookmobile, delivering services across the community and making every stop a welcoming and engaging experience.

Champion Community Connections

Create Memorable Experiences
· Develop and lead innovative programs that inspire curiosity, creativity, and exploration for children and families.

Keep Things Rolling Smoothly
· Assist with outreach logistics, including preparing and maintaining the mobile collection, loading/unloading materials, and supporting the outreach schedule.

Key Requirements:

· Master’s Degree in Library Science preferred, Master’s Degree in relevant field required
· Experience working with children and families
