Elyria Public Library is seeking a collaborative, people-centered leader to serve as our Deputy Director, bringing energy, vision, and a growth mindset to help develop our team and shape responsive, forward-looking services for our library and community.

In partnership with the Executive Director, the Deputy Director helps foster a supportive, adaptive, and accountable organizational culture, one that values experimentation, continuous learning, and a deep commitment to the evolving needs of our patrons.

We’re looking for someone who will:
· Develop and support EPL’s most impactful leaders, helping teams grow, collaborate, and deliver visible community results.
· Communicate with confidence and authenticity across every setting, from team meetings to forging strong community partnerships.
· Share our commitment to our Patron First Promise; Always Lead with Kindness.
· Represent EPL as a trusted and engaged presence both internally and externally.
· Turn big ideas into action, guiding initiatives that improve services, support staff, and ensure steady progress on community impact.
· Champion innovation, equity, and inclusive service at every level of the organization.

Position Qualifications:
· Master’s in library science preferred
· Minimum 3 years of library management experience
· Experience with change management, process improvement, and organizational development.
· Skilled in staff performance management, including experience with coaching, mentorship, conflict resolution, performance improvement, training and staff development.
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

· A partnership with Lorain County Community College
