GENERAL SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, trains both staff and library customers on library software programs and hardware, including developing, scheduling, and implementing training programs. Provides first level support and troubleshooting with a variety of software and hardware issues.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required include:
• Knowledge of training technologies and library applications.
• Ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge and use, and to teach others the use of common business computer applications.
• Knowledge of personal computer software, systems and/or applications.
• Ability to create and conduct clear and informative technology training sessions to library staff and the public.
• Skill in exercising advanced level of verbal, inter-personal and customer service skills.
• Ability to demonstrate proficient usage of English grammar, spelling and punctuation rules, and to utilize simple mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, etc.
• Ability to function with minimal supervision.
• Ability to trouble shoot, diagnose and repair computer-related problems.
• Knowledge of e-learning tools, development and delivery.
• Knowledge of needs assessment, training and evaluation methodology and adult learning principles.
• Ability to apply sound judgment, resolve problems, and make effective decisions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Complies with Cuyahoga County Public Library’s policies, rules, guidelines, procedures, requirements, standards, and practices applicable to the job, including (but not limited to) work scheduling and attendance, customer service, use of Library property, computer use, personal conduct, and confidentiality.
• Uses structured project management techniques to design, develop and deliver training curricula. Creates and/or provides and maintains training documentation and materials.
• Serves as team member in planning and coordinating technology training for library staff and customers. Conducts training classes and workshops for library staff and the public for library hardware and software (e.g. Office productivity software, downloadables, phones, fax machines, cash registers, etc.).
• Works with staff from other departments and divisions to develop and/or manage project specific training.
• Collaborates on the development and design of instructor-led, virtual, and hands-on training programs and workshops.
• Schedules, coordinates, and tracks classes and training sessions for various locations. Coordinates scheduling and logistics associated with equipment and tools needed for classes and training sessions. Provides statistics on class attendance and other issues. Organizes and compiles statistics to determine trends.
• Troubleshoots presentation technology and equipment if necessary.
• Assists in providing e-learning for staff and public including assessment of appropriate tools, development of curriculum and implementation of programs.
• Conducts technology training needs assessments and applies evaluation methodology to appraise training value.

Summary Minimum Education & Experience Required
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to technical training; Microsoft Office Specialist Certification preferred.
• At least 3 years of progressively more responsible experience designing and providing successful training and documentation. Training in a library setting preferred.
• Demonstrated technology proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheet applications, project management software, presentation software and experience with developing e-learning initiatives.
• A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

OTHER TESTING/LICENSES REQUIRED
• A valid driver's license is required to operate library owned vehicles and a clean driving record must be maintained at all times. Own vehicle preferred.
• A criminal background check is required, and pre-employment drug screening.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
• Requires individual willing to work a flexible schedule of hours, including evenings and weekends.
• No major sources of working conditions discomfort, i.e. standard work environment with possible minor inconveniences due to occasional noise, crowded working conditions, and/or minor heating, cooling or ventilation problems.
• Work requires occasional stooping or bending and/or occasional moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds).
• Working conditions are modestly unpleasant at times due to near-continuous use of a computer terminal.
