Job Opening:
The Perry Public Library has an opening for a part-time (twelve [12] to nineteen [19]) hours per week) Reference Librarian. The duties for the employee in this position include:
· Working at reference desks to assist patrons with reference questions, reader guidance, computer use, eMedia, placing holds, etc.
· Making recommendations for materials based on interests of patron
· Assisting and instructing patrons in the use of library material, reference tools, catalog, on-line databases, etc.
· Staying informed of library developments and participating in continuing education opportunities
· May serve in any department of the library system – Reference, YA, Children’s, etc.
· Additional duties as requested
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master’s degree from ALA accredited library school
· Previous experience working in a library
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
· Able to work days, evenings, and weekends as scheduled
· Reliable transportation to and from work
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Ability to apply knowledge and training in library science
· Ability to meet, communicate, and deal with people effectively and with tact and good judgment
· Ability to make decisions within stated guidelines
· Ability to speak and write effectively
· Ability to move items and materials up to forty (40) pounds in weight
Salary and Benefits:
· Based on experience, beginning at $16.46 per hour
· The Library participates in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System
· This position does not receive paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, or personal time benefits
