GENERAL SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor coordinates production of digital and print projects, researches and evaluates equipment and services, and oversees the activities of the print production shop staff.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Knowledge of current print and digital production techniques and applications.
• Skill in production-oriented project management.
• Ability to use a personal computer and job-related software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job, which may include, but not be limited to email/calendar software, internet/intranet browsers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, and various systems of software used by CCPL.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Coordinates the timely completion of digital and print projects. Supervises and provides guidance to production team members.
• Provides oversight for production project schedule. Coordinates multiple concurrent projects, allocates resources, and monitors workflows to ensure timely and efficient completion of assigned projects.
• Assesses requirements for project needs.
• Ensure digital and print materials produced are in accordance with customer specifications.
• Maintains and monitors the department’s inventory, purchases materials and supplies, and ensures adequate materials and supplies are available to meet project demands.
• Coordinates the installation of new equipment and provides training and technical assistance to the production shop staff.
• Coordinates routine and preventive maintenance on production and related equipment.
• Troubleshoots problems with the production equipment and makes the necessary repairs or contacts external service technicians / vendors as required.
• Researches and evaluates production products, equipment, and services. Prepares requests for proposal / price packages as directed. Provides direction to and evaluates the work of outside print vendors and service contractors as directed.
• Performs hands-on projects tasks necessary for the completion of projects, as required.
• Operates and maintains various printing tools and equipment including, but not limited to printers, cutters, drills, folders, presses, and laminators.
• Provides departmental status updates to management.
• Organizes and establishes print production work priorities in consultation with the division
director.
• Prepares project speculation sheets and obtains quotes from vendors, with appropriate approvals, as directed.
• Compiles monthly materials expenditure and inventory reports, and maintains related records, as directed.
• Complies with Cuyahoga County Public Library’s policies, rules, guidelines, procedures, requirements, standards, and practices applicable to the job, including [but not limited to] work scheduling and attendance, customer service, use of Library property, computer use, personal conduct, and confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.
SUMMARY MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Education: High school diploma or GED is required. Additional vocational training program completion is preferred.
• Certifications or licensure: None.
• Years of relevant experience: 2 to 5 or more years is preferred.
• Years of experience supervising: None.
• A valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation is required, as well as in-force automobile insurance.
• Criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screening are both required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
• The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of offices, which includes the need for general safe workplace practices with office equipment and computers, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
• This position is performed in an office setting although off-site meetings in various settings occur.
• Lift light objects [less than 75 pounds] and carry them short distances [20 feet or less].
• The schedule is generally normal business hours Monday through Friday. Weekend hours may
be possible depending on library open hours or other scheduling needs.
• The position generally requires 40.0 hours in a workweek.
• Some travel is required.
