Details:
The Cleveland Museum of Art Archives department has an exciting fellowship opportunity to work on strategic initiatives supporting access to library and archives collections by converting a variety of original materials such as artists’ sketchbooks and scrapbooks, photographs, artworks on paper, and rare books to digital form using hardware such as large-format scanners, cameras, and flatbed scanners. Fully described collections will be made available through the Ingalls Library website. Current digital collections include over 600 published items, archival collections, and photographs. Under the guidance of seasoned professionals, the Fellow will gain experience in the proper care and handling of archival collections, the standards and best practices for digitization of primary sources, and metadata management. The fellowship offers essential tools and insights for any person whose career plans include archival administration, digital asset management, and in-depth research. The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in an MLIS program with a concentration in archival management, or an advanced undergraduate (rising senior) preparing to enroll in an MLIS program, in good academic standing with excellent organizational, research, and interpersonal skills; the ability to work independently and sustain close attention to detail; and the ability to meet deadlines and quotas and interpret complex instructions. Knowledge of digitization hardware and digital imaging software is preferred.
