About this job:
Under general direction, the Local History Librarian provides library reference and programming services to patrons and develops and maintains the local history collection. This position also performs the duties of an Information Librarian at the Information Desk

Duties of a Public Service Assistant include, but are not limited to:
· Provides general reference services to patrons in a variety of formats
· Gathers requested library materials and/or assists patrons in reserving library materials
· Responds to research requests about our local history
· Conducts community programming promoting our local history
· Creates displays, brochures, flyers, and other materials to provide information about and promote the Local History Collection
· Works with the Technical Services Department on cataloging issues pertaining to Local History
· Evaluates and maintains the equipment for Local History
· Develops and maintains the Local History page on SMFPL website
· Assists in the maintenance of the Information Services collection
· Develops and maintains the Local History Collection using accepted preservation techniques
· Reads reviews and information resources for purchase consideration
· May be required to act as a department supervisor
· May be required to act as a building supervisor
· Coordinates the development of publicity for programs and services with the Marking and Public Relations Department
· Serves as representative of the library in the local community
· Serves as a liaison between the library and the Local History community
· Promotes the importance and needs of the Local History to Stow and Munroe Falls
· Serves as a Liaison to the Stow Historical Society
· Workshop Reports
· Monthly and Annual Reports
· May serve as a notary public
· Serves as a Passport Acceptance Agent

Required Qualifications:
• MLIS from an American Library Association accredited school or equivalent with an emphasis in local history and special collections. Applicants with 6 credit hours or less towards completion of MLIS may be considered
• Must be a US citizen (as per requirement to be a Passport Acceptance Agent or Notary)

Schedule:
Days, evenings, and weekends.

Pay Range:
$18.86
