Part-Time: 20 to 30 hours per week with sick leave, vacation, paid holidays, paid breaks, and other benefits. Salary, hours, and benefits commensurate with education and experience.

Position Description: This position requires considerable contact with the public. The Programming and Outreach Associate will assist with the planning, presentation, and promotion of creative and innovative programming for children and youth ages 0-16 and their caregivers. This position will act as a library representative at community events and as a liaison with the elementary school. The Programming and Outreach Associate will share duties at the circulation and reference desks. Daytime and weekend hours currently are needed, but the ability to work a flexible schedule is required.

Preferred Qualifications: 2-year college degree / Associates Degree with extensive experience working with young children, school age youth, teens, and families. Experience working in an educational setting or leading group activities. Experience in customer service, community outreach, public speaking, event planning, and working within diverse communities. Experience in online gaming, social media, and computer use education is also desired. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a criminal background check.

Candidates should also present an upbeat attitude, have a sense of humor, and place top priority on customer service. They must have the ability to work collaboratively with others. Candidates should have an interest in, comfort with, and a genuine desire to serve and engage with children and young people of all abilities and backgrounds. Having an interest and knowledge in current literature for children ages 0-16 as well as knowledge of popular materials for patrons of all ages is key. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong computer skills.
