Job Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Circulation Coordinator, the Assistant Circulation Coordinator helps plans, organize and supervise the activities of the circulation unit; assists library patrons in the use of library services, facilities, and equipment; interprets library policies for patrons; and coordinates activities with other department managers. Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience, basic computer skills and knowledge, or an equivalent combination of knowledge and experience. Management experience is a plus.

Working Conditions
There is some light lifting and reaching. May be standing and walking during part of the day. Must have experience with latest Windows programs and other software used at the Library, learn to use the Library’s Integrated Library System (ILS), and other forms of technology as needed. May need to travel infrequently for training and outside programs.

Essential Functions
Supervises staff
Scheduling
Receives oral or written direction from the Circulation Manager
Plans work according to library schedule or standard routine
Establishes priority of work tasks
Participates in the development of operating policies and procedures
Evaluates circulation operating procedures, and makes adjustments as needed to improve efficiency.
Supervises the circulation, returns, holds and shelving of the library collection of books and non-book materials.
Oversees the enrollment of new patrons to the library
Provides patrons with general information on library services; assists and instructs patrons in using library services, equipment, and facilities
Supervises book reserve system
Supervises the receiving and recording of overdue fines
Inspects damaged circulation materials, including books and equipment
Identifies cataloging errors and refers books or materials to technical unit
Maintains performance and repair of circulation equipment
Maintains circulation data and prepares regular statistical reports for the Director
Creates the all-staff and library program schedules that are distributed weekly
Inventories and reports circulation supply needs
Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports work accomplished to the Circulation Manager

Projects this position oversees include, but are not limited to:
Cleaning up shelving in the back area of Circulation desk
Running the money in the morning
Working on the Circulation manual
All bulletin board requests go in a folder, which is given to Director at the end of the week
Meeting room signup--Showing patrons where it is online
Helping patrons learn to use the self-checkout
Creating an interdepartmental staff schedule which can be viewed online
Managing volunteers

Additional Duties
Performs routine circulation desk duties as necessary
Oversees return of books and materials to shelves or storage places
Oversees billing and collections operations
Attends staff meetings and training sessions.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Full-time (37.5 hrs/week) non-exempt position. Days and hours of work vary by schedule. Evening and weekend work will be required as schedule demands. Pay $14.40 per hour.
