		 Event Description 
		Description: Developing emergency preparedness plans and training staff to respond accordingly to an emergency is growing in importance.  Emergency planning for libraries must grow beyond the protection of the libraries' collection.  The goal of a progressive emergency plan should include the safety of staff, patrons, property, the environment, as well as, the collection.  This session will introduce and reinforce strategies to accomplish these goals. Learning Objectives: 
 Presenter:  Kevin Echols is the Safety Services Manager for the Cleveland Heights/University Heights Public Libraries.  He started his employment with the Heights Library System as a part-time security officer.  During that time Kevin was a Captain with the Cleveland Fire Department.  He moved into the full-time position of Safety Services Supervisor in June of 2012. The position was upgraded to a management position in 2015.  Kevin holds a BS in Fire Science & Emergency Management from Kaplan University and a MS in Homeland Security & Emergency Management from Purdue University.
