Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
Event Description
In 2020, the staff of Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library established their commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through the creation of IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility). This initiative aimed to foster an environment where both staff and the community feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged to learn. The library sought to become an inclusive space for everyone, not just a workplace. Through marketing campaigns, programming, partnerships, staff training, and a complete overhaul of library services, they transformed the way they engaged with and served the surrounding communities. Since its inception, the IDEA initiative has continued to thrive, creating a lasting impact. It has fostered a more inclusive and welcoming environment, successfully engaging a broader range of individuals and ensuring that all feel represented and valued. Ongoing partnerships with local organizations and the constant evolution of library services have strengthened the library's connection with the community, making it a key resource for learning, support, and engagement. The IDEA initiative remains a cornerstone of the library's mission, continuing to create a more accessible and inclusive space for everyone.
