A Note From the
Executive Director

NEO-RLS has offered consulting services for many years, with Strategic Planning services being the most popular, but did you know that NEO-RLS also offers Customized Consulting services? This unique offering is designed to empower libraries with tailored guidance, expertise, and support to tackle challenges and seize new opportunities. I would like to share some recent examples and upcoming offerings that demonstrate the impact of NEO-RLS's consulting services.

Community Engagement/Focus Group: I recently facilitated a community focus group for a library embarking on a renovation journey. Through thoughtful discussions, the library gained insights into the needs and aspirations of its patrons. This engagement ensured that the renovation aligned with community preferences and fostered a sense of ownership among library users.

Staff Day Presentation: Just last week, Continuing Education Coordinator, Jeff Laser, presented a session on Microsoft Teams at a library Staff Day. Jeff provided an engaging presentation and shared tools to enhance collaboration and communication among library staff using Teams.

Staff Day Planning: Planning engaging and impactful staff days can be daunting. Melissa Lattanzi, Continuing Education Coordinator, has stepped in to assist many libraries in curating an informative and inspiring staff day event through concept development and speaker selection.

Board Development Session: Boards play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of libraries. NEO-RLS is gearing up to offer a Board development session later this year. This session will empower board members with the tools and knowledge needed to make informed decisions and act as effective library advocates.

Staff Engagement Session: Engaged staff are the backbone of successful libraries. NEO-RLS recognizes this and is preparing to roll out services focused on enhancing staff engagement. From team-building strategies to fostering a positive work environment, these services will nurture library staff's dedication and creativity.

If any of these offerings resonate with your library's aspirations or if you would like to explore consulting services that cater to your unique needs, connect with me at ragan.snead@neo-rls.org.

Remember, Gold members enjoy an exclusive benefit – four free hours of consulting each year.

Have a great day!

Ohio Collections Analysis Initiative webinars resume
Since the launch of Ohio Collection Analysis Initiative in 2022, 680 library staff from all 88 counties in Ohio have registered for exclusive access to this original, self-paced, collection analysis initiative. Throughout 2022 and 2023, library staff have explored resources, attended webinars and open office hours, and used tools to consider collections that empower children and young adult readers by respecting and appreciating what makes them different and the same. The initiative is ongoing—register for access at any time, start when you are ready, and work at your own pace.

The State Library is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, September 13 at 3:30 p.m. (ET) on how to get started with the Ohio Collection Analysis Initiative. This 75-minute webinar will guide attendees through learning how to import data and use the tools to purposefully reflect, augment, compare, and determine which titles best fit their community’s needs. Attendees will receive a plan that equips them to both implement their decisions and routinize these tools in future practices.
