A Note From the Continuing Education Coordinator
I am excited to announce our new Library Bootcamp webinar series! This series is designed for newcomers to the library field who are interested in learning more about the foundations of the profession. We hope that these webinars will help illuminate potential career options, as well as offer onboarding and training solutions for area libraries.
The series kicks off on September 13th with Foundational Principles of Library Science presented by Jeff Regensburger, Library Consultant and LSTA Coordinator at the State Library of Ohio. Participants will learn about the foundational tenets of library service in this webinar, including equitable access and intellectual freedom. On September 21st, I will be presenting Library Operations, which will explore the various functions of departments typically found in public libraries and how they work together, with an emphasis on how to pair soft skills with suitable positions in the field. On October 4th, Don Boozer, Manager of the Literature Department and Homebound Services at Cleveland Public Library, will be presenting Refresh & Reboot: Leveling Up Your Reference Interview & Information Searching Skills. Attendees of this webinar will gain practical searching skills to apply within any information-searching environment, as well as how to conduct a thorough reference interview.
Stay tuned for more Library Bootcamp webinars later in 2023. Have a great day! Jeff |

Teen Science Café (TSC) is an out-of-school-time program where teens and STEM experts collaborate on presentations and hands-on activities which explore science topics in-depth. Cafés are as unique as the communities they serve, and are led by teens for teens with sponsorship of an adult leader. Cafés are easy to start; no prior experience with STEM is needed. Many libraries host TSC, as well as museums, nature centers, afterschool programs, and other places where teens can congregate and be welcome. Cafés are typically run about 1.5 hours, once per month during the school year.
