The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library has a part-time employment opportunity available as a Customer Service Assistant for the Children's Services Department. This position will help support the library's mission by providing access to materials and services to meet the informational, cultural, and educational needs of children (ages 0 – 12) and other users at the beautiful and newly renovated Warren library location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Answers reference and reader's advisory questions in person and by telephone.
• Prepares and presents storytimes; may assist with other programs.
• Develops displays and bulletin boards.
• Assists users individually and in groups in the use of library materials and equipment.
• Shares information about library services and programs to individuals.
• Presents outreach storytimes; may assist with other outreach activities as assigned.
• Develops and maintains a working knowledge of childhood brain development and developmentally appropriate practice.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma required or equivalent. Some college course work desirable. Experience working with children highly desirable. Knowledge and experience in using computers and various software programs to include the Internet. Valid driver’s license.
Position will be part-time (24 hours/week). The work schedule will include at least two evening shifts and alternating Friday/Saturday shifts per week. Please refer to the Core Competencies for Library Staff on the library’s website, www.wtcpl.org.
