Part-time Position - 20 hours per week
Rocky River Public Library, located in the western Cleveland, Ohio suburb of Rocky River, seeks a Children’s Associate to help shape and participate in a full range of programs and services for children from infancy through sixth grade.
Rocky River Public Library delivers excellent service to children and families with an extensive collection, electronic resources, programming, and outreach. The Children’s Associate will have daily interaction with patrons to provide readers advisory service and to assist in use of the catalog and computer resources. As requested, the Children’s Associate will create lively displays, help maintain the collection, and join in planning and delivering a full calendar of story times and other programs in two story time rooms outfitted with up-to-date audiovisual equipment and an active outreach program to schools and childcare centers.
A Bachelor’s degree is required. Experience working with children in a library setting is preferred. Desirable qualifications include experience in children’s programming and outreach and knowledge of child development, early literacy skills, and children’s literature. Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present an up-beat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer service.
Salary will be commensurate with experience up to $20.83 per hour. Generous vacation and sick time are offered in addition to professional development.
