The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library is seeking an energetic and customer service-oriented professional Librarian for the Mobile Library Services Department. Under direction from the Mobile Library Services Manager, this employee is responsible for providing direct library service to customers of all ages. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with the public and be able to demonstrate a strong customer orientation that supports our mission and service to the diverse communities we serve.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provides reference and readers advisory service to customers of all ages.
· May instruct users individually and in groups in the use of library materials and equipment to include use of digital resources and online research resources.
· Presents information about library services and programs, including the Talking Book Program, to individuals and groups.
· Recommends for purchase a variety of materials, including books, magazines and media based on evaluation of reviews and current user needs/interests.
· Assists with collection maintenance by inventory, evaluation and weeding.
· Maintains a working knowledge of materials collections, trends in public services and the professions through in-service workshops, meetings, conferences, professional literature and organizational memberships.
· Assists with circulation duties on the Bookmobile and delivery of materials to Home Bound patrons.
· Participates in Outreach and Community Engagement activities as assigned (e.g. parades, resource fairs).
· May plan and present programs for Mobile Library Services patrons in cooperation with other MLS staff, Youth Services Staff and Adult Services Staff (e.g. book clubs at an assisted living facilities, incarcerated youth).
· Assists in the preparation of bibliographies, fliers and various library-finding aids.
· Develops and prepares displays and decorations for the Bookmobile.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
A Masters of Library and Information Science degree issued by an ALA-accredited school of library and information science required. Candidates currently pursuing an MLIS degree who will complete degree requirements by 12/31/2022 will be considered. One-year varied experience, working with diverse populations, and preparing/presenting programs required. Public Library experience helpful. Knowledge of the principles of collection development and in using the Internet and various software programs. Valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required.
