Designated Contract Hours: Part-time (approximately 20.00 to 24.00 hours per week) from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. This is a CONTRACT position with a maximum of 1,152 hours for the contract period. This position will be considered an independent contractor position and not an employee of the Newton Falls Public Library.

Hourly rate: $18.00/hour

This project is funded in part by the Guiding Ohio Online Grant provided by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services Library and Services and Technology Act funds, granted through the State Library of Ohio. #L-12-23.

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position reports to the Newton Falls Public Library Adult Services Librarian Supervisor. This position is a public services position with extensive public contact. The successful applicant will be providing technology and computer training to the patrons of Newton Falls Public Library. This position will primarily be responsible for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating a program of instruction in technology and computer skills for adults, senior citizens, teens and library staff. The training to be provided will be conducted in either a group setting or on an individual basis at the Newton Falls Public Library other community sites when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a high school degree or equivalent. Some post-secondary education in the field of computer science, technology, or related field preferred.
A strong working knowledge of computer software and experience in using a wide variety of computer programs and applications including, but not limited to:
Proficient using Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Office 2016 and Microsoft Office 365.
Adept at using multiple internet browsers including Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari.
Practiced in conducting internet and database searches.
Comfortable using and instructing others on basic use of digital devices, including smart phones, tablets, laptops, Chromebooks, desktop computers, etc. including Android, Apple, and Kindle operating systems.
Versed in using library e-media platforms, including but not limited to the CLEVNET catalog, Hoopla and Overdrive, and possessing the skill set to train others on how to use these services.
Strong grasp on how to borrow, retrieve & return e-books from the CLEVNET E-media collection.
Some degree of knowledge regarding computer maintenance and troubleshooting minor hardware and software issues.
Ability to design and create advertising and instructional flyers, documents, brochures, etc. using publishing programs such as Microsoft Publisher and Canva.
Experience using Google Drive applications including Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Calendar.
Experience with the OhioMeansJobs website and familiarity with the training resources offered via LinkedIn Learning and Northstar.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Conducts computer related classes and instruction on new technology skills for Newton Falls Public Library patrons.
Conducts periodic technology training sessions to Newton Falls Public Library staff.
Develops curriculum materials and specific lesson plans, and updates curriculum materials to address current technology needs as required.
Assists patrons with effective use of technologies needed to access non-print resources.
Develops and maintains a positive, encouraging and non-judgmental learning environment.
Promotes a positive attitude and enthusiasm toward education and technology.
Demonstrates patience and a solid commitment to patron service.
Compiles and submits written reports, evaluations and statistics as requested by Newton Falls Public Library Director.
Recommends digital resources to staff to enhance library services, programs & collections.
Implements and enforces Library policies and procedures.
Carries out related duties as assigned and/or as needed.
