In preparation for the reopening of the Warren Library's newly renovated Public Computer Lab, three part-time Customer Service Assistant positions are now needed. An employee in this role will provide public service (including basic instruction and reference assistance) to users of the adult public computer lab as part of the Adult Services Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

· Provides basic instruction on and monitors the use of the library’s adult public computers and other technology like maker equipment and tools.

· Assists with maintenance of equipment (adult public computers, printers and photocopiers) to include cleaning screens, disinfecting keyboards and dusting equipment; maintains supplies, including paper, ink, toner, etc.

· Provides basic technical service and basic troubleshooting of software and minor hardware issues of library equipment; opens help desk tickets and elevates calls for technical service as appropriate.

· Assists in department operations - opens and closes the computer lab, releases print jobs, counts money, accepts credit card and mobile payments, and balances cash register.

· Answers the telephone, responds to inquiries and directs calls, uses the public address system.

· Ability to utilize functions of the Sierra circulation system needed to assist adult public computer area customers.

· Able to assist customers with basic use of a variety of customer-owned electronic devices (laptops, tablets, smartphones).

· Provides users with general information about library services, directing them to other departments or branch library locations as appropriate.

· Applies library policies to be consistent with procedures in public service situations.

· Learns and keeps current with library-provided software, subscription databases and digital resources.

· Maintains confidentiality of all customer transactions and records.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent. Public service experience highly desirable. Experience performing similar duties preferred. Knowledge of basic computer software and Internet resources. Familiarity with the use and basic troubleshooting of mobile devices (laptops, tablets, and smartphones).

The Library is seeking to fill three (3) part-time positions, each scheduled for 25 hours/week.
