Position: Children’s Librarian
Part-time: 20 to 24 hours per week
Salary Range: $16.00 - $19.00/hour
The successful candidate will provide direct library services to children and teens. Responsibilities include reference and reader’s advisory and developing storytimes and other programs
This position works a variety of day, evening and Saturday hours.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Education or related field from accredited program; or equivalent combination of experience and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
· Familiarity with children’s literature.
· Excellent technology skills including computer literacy in MS Office, social media, automated circulation system and public access catalog; familiarity with SIRSI and Bibliocommons a plus.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with patrons and staff.
· Must be able to pass a background check.
Duties
· Works collaboratively with the Head of the Children’s Department.
· Responsible for storytimes for families, preschoolers and babies.
· Manage some outreach programs.
· Assist with Summer Reading program.
· Provide reference and readers’ advisory to children, teens, their parents and/or caregivers.
· Plan, implement and promote other children’s programming including programs for Tweens.
· Create displays, announcements and other publicity to promote library.
