GENERAL SUMMARY

Under limited supervision with alternating periods of relative autonomy and general review, administers Adult Education Services orientation program and uses assessment tools in determining skill level and aptitude of adults including but not limited to ABE/ASL and ESOL populations. Assists Instructors with student activities and student records and can act as Instructor Substitute.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Proficiency is also required in the Function/Task-Specific competency of Computer Knowledge and Use, as well as Technical Services: Cataloging.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required include:

· Knowledge administering an adult education orientation program and using assessment tools in determining skill level and aptitude including but not limited to online assessments.

· Ability to use a personal computer and job-related software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job, which may include, but not be limited to email/calendar software, internet/intranet browsers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, computer-based and various systems of software used by CCPL.

· Ability to apply basic levels of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, etc.

· Ability to accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files.

· Ability to apply sound judgment, resolve problems, and make effective decisions.

· Skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, and/or representatives of other agencies.

· Skill in organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks.

· Ability to detect errors, determine causes, and make corrections as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Complies with Cuyahoga County Public Library’s policies, rules, guidelines, procedures, requirements, standards, and practices applicable to the job, including (but not limited to) work scheduling and attendance, customer service, use of Library property, computer use, personal conduct, and confidentiality.

· Maintain an excellent Adult Education Services program by implementing all policies, guidelines, and standards as stated in the National Reporting System (NRS), Ohio Department of Higher Education Forms and References and Indicators of Program Quality (IPQs).

· Implement the Adult Education Services Program’s orientation and registration sessions in accordance with the NRS and Ohio Department of Higher Education Forms and References and Aspire Portfolio System Guidelines.

· Administer and score the applicable assessments to students as stipulated in the Ohio Department of Higher Education current Aspire Assessment Policy.

· Compile complete and accurate forms and portfolios for each student interviewed and tested in accordance with Ohio Department of Higher Education Portfolio System Guidelines.

· Distribute, collect and submit voter registration cards during Orientation.

· Assist Adult Education Services Instructors in completing student activities such as goal setting and assessment processes.

· Implement Learning Disabilities plan and procedures.

Summary Minimum Education & Experience Required

· Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Adult Education preferred.

OTHER TESTING/LICENSES REQUIRED

· A criminal background check is required, as are pre-employment drug and nicotine screens.

· A valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation and in-force automobile insurance in order to travel between service locations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

· Work requires stooping or bending and/or lifting such as three or four reams of paper or books (up to 25 pounds).

· No major sources of working conditions discomfort, i.e. standard work environment with possible minor inconveniences due to occasional noise, crowded working conditions, and/or minor heating, cooling or ventilation problems.
