The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library is seeking a full-time Teen Librarian for the Warren Library location. The ideal candidate will be skilled in making connections with local schools, be energetic and experienced at offering creative programming that appeals to teens, have a strong commitment to customer service and good interpersonal and communication skills. This employee is responsible for providing direct library service to teens (ages 13 - 18) and other department users.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Design and implement programs held at the Warren library to entice teens into the library atmosphere, to include: Teen Summer Challenge; Teen Advisory Board monthly meetings; special programs.

· Collaborates with branch teen staff to help plan and present teen programs at the branch library locations, under direction of the Teen Services Supervisor.

· Provides reference and readers advisory service to library customers.

· Presents information about library services and programs to individuals and groups.

· Establishes and maintains working relationships with schools, social services, and other community agencies with impact teens.

· Provides outreach (booktalks, etc.) to both middle school and high school English classes.

· Assists with the development and maintenance of the Warren library teen (ages 13 – 18) materials collection within the allocated budget.

· Constructs bibliographies and provides updates, links and suggestions for the Teen web page to promote programs and teen materials.

· Develops and prepares displays, and decorations for Teen Central area.

· Works with Public Relations Office on promotion of Teen activities.

· Maintains a working knowledge of teen fiction and other materials collection, trends in public service, the profession and the Internet and online databases through in-service workshops, meetings and conferences, professional literature (especially those dealing with Teen literature) and organizational memberships.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Masters degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program. Strong experience or background working with teens, and a demonstrated knowledge of teen resources and collection development. Knowledge and experience in using computers and various software programs to include the Internet and online databases. Prior public library experience preferred. Valid driver’s license.
