Are you a people-oriented, tech-savvy, lifelong learner looking for a new challenge? Shaker Heights Public Library is seeking an Adult Services Associate to help us meet our mission of strengthening our community and transforming lives by bringing together people, information and ideas. On a daily basis, this means helping patrons locate and use library materials, find and evaluate information, use electronic resources including databases, e-media, computers and personal devices, and choose books, music and movies to meet their interests. Must enjoy working with and helping people of all ages in a diverse community. Every day brings a new opportunity to learn.

Qualifications:
• A minimum of two years of college with a bachelor’s degree preferred
• Broad general knowledge of social and physical sciences, current events, basic math and literature
• Awareness of adult popular reading interests
• Customer service experience
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Research skills, including the ability to evaluate information sources for accuracy, reliability, and currency
• Ability to demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Office and the internet. Ability to quickly learn new technologies.

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week. This position works a variety of day, evening, and weekend hours.

Benefits: The library offers health, dental and life insurance, as well as generous paid time off including vacation, sick and holiday hours.

Pay rate: $16.42 per hour
