Shaker Heights Public Library is seeking a highly motivated, innovative full-time professional to engage organizations and individuals in the community and build partnerships to meet community goals. We are a busy, first-ring suburban library serving a diverse population looking for an energetic, creative, flexible team player with a passionate commitment to equity and inclusion.
The Community Engagement Specialist will develop and maintain community partnerships, identify opportunities for Library participation in local community events, and create innovative programming. The Specialist will work as part of the Community Engagement Team as well as a member of the Adult Services Department. Responsibilities will include providing reference and readers’ advisory services to customers, and assisting customers in locating, selecting, and reserving library materials. Will serve as Senior Person as assigned.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and excellent listening, networking and communication skills required. Must have a proven record of community involvement and demonstrated ability to work with the public. Need strong technology skills, ability to thrive within a fast-paced environment and adapt to change. Must enjoy working with all kinds of people. Valid Ohio driver’s license required. MLS from an ALA accredited school or a Master’s degree in a field relevant to community work is required.
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week. This position works a variety of day, evening, and weekend hours. Flexibility to attend community events is necessary.
Pay rate: $20.24-$23.78 per hour, depending upon qualifications and experience. Benefits include health, dental and life insurance and generous paid time off.
