Job Description:
SUMMARY
Collaborates with the Associate Vice President, Academic Professional Development and Assessment and colleagues to develop, implement, and evaluate the strategic direction of the department. Oversees the operations, and supervises staff of the assigned campus based testing center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provides leadership and coordination for the campus based testing center
• Plans, manages and directs the delivery of campus assessment and diagnostic services both within the testing center and in coordination with Faculty, the Counseling department, and campus based outreach activities, with emphasis on innovative ways to engage students
• Collaboratively establishes strategic directions with the Supervisor of Assessment and Testing for testing/proctoring services on campus, off campus assessment, and for the College's distance education programs
• Supervises staff including recruitment and hiring, training, and performance management
• Collaborates with the Associate Vice President, Academic Professional Development and Assessment to establish annual unit goals, objectives and operating/capital budgets
• Works with counterparts from the other campuses to develop, implement and evaluate program goals and objectives to insure a consistent One College approach to testing services
• Creates avenues for information sharing with Directors of Counseling and the Enrollment Center, and the Assistant Dean of the Learning Commons to consistently support testing services for students
• Keeps current knowledge of trends in testing and assessment through review of literature, internet resources, and professional organizations
• Maintains current awareness of emerging prior learning concepts and technologies
• Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
• Master's degree in a related field
o Significant related experience may substitute for education
• Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience working with students in a higher education environment
• Demonstrated experience in assessment and testing services
• Demonstrated experience supervising, planning, assigning, scheduling and ensuring the quality of the work of others
• Demonstrated experience forecasting, planning, maintaining, preparing and monitoring a business area’s budget
• Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department
• Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem solving methods in adaptive situations

• Possess comprehensive knowledge of existing and emerging assessment theories, concepts and practices with the ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

• Master's degree in Adult Education, Psychology, or a related field
• Demonstrated experience with an emphasis on assessment and testing
