The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library is searching for a full-time Maintenance Worker to perform upkeep and maintenance of Library grounds, semi-skilled maintenance tasks of Library buildings and equipment, and assists with the overall operations of the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Checks buildings and grounds for safety hazards.
• Maintains floors, including stairs and halls, by vacuuming, sweeping, waxing, buffing and mopping.
• Does routine cleaning of offices, public areas, rest rooms and staff lounge, dusting, polishing, emptying wastebaskets, sorting recyclables and removing trash and recyclables.
• Assists with outside building maintenance on a seasonal basis at any branch location: snow and ice removal; and washing windows.
• Performs semi-skilled electrical maintenance at all branch locations to include: Replacement of switches, outlets, light ballasts, breakers and electrical cords; Troubleshoots electrical circuitry.
• Performs semi-skilled plumbing maintenance at all branch locations to include: Repair/replacement of flush valves and other fixtures; Repair of supply and waste water lines.
• Performs some carpentry work at all branch locations to include: Repair/replacement of doors and door trim, door locks and panic bars; minor repair of electric door openers; Drywall and painting.
• Performs special tasks which may involve heavy lifting and moving of furniture and equipment, such as setting up meeting room, moving file cabinets, assembly of furnishings, etc.
• May drive the library van on a scheduled delivery route to each branch. Unloads and loads materials and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent. Some vocational training in one or more maintenance trade areas preferred. Related experience in similar position preferred. Valid driver's license, with acceptable driving record is required. Good knowledge of maintenance and custodial practices, to include safety issues. Ability to follow oral and written instructions related to successful completion of duties. Ability to use or learn to use cleaning and maintenance equipment and tools. Skill in operating a van in all types of weather.

Starting hourly pay rate: $10.82.
