JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Children’s Department Manager, the Children’s Outreach Librarian extends the library’s mission by providing children’s services to populations that don’t, or can’t, come to the building and by developing mutually beneficial partnerships with community organizations who share similar goals in supporting children and their caregivers.


QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association-accredited school, and
Two (2) years of library experience, or
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position involves moving within the Children’s Department to assist patrons and transporting items from 6-20 pounds. It also requires a clean driving record and access to reliable transportation for attendance of community meetings and programs.

An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of himself/herself or others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for this position.

60% OUTREACH
Plan, promote, and implement children's outreach programs and resources
Identify and collaborate with community partners
Attend Granville Programmers meetings, school board meetings, etc. as needed to develop relationships with community partners
Write grant proposals
Keep accurate records of program participation and cost

40% OTHER CHILDREN’S DEPARTMENT DUTIES
Provide support as needed for Children's Desk coverage and in-library programming
Reader's advisory and reference
