TITLE: Electronic Resources Librarian
DEPARTMENT: Library
REPORTS TO: Executive Director

SUMMARY: Determines collection strategy, coordinates the Library collection development process and supports budgetary resources or decisions. Maintains and ensures access to print and electronic resources for faculty, students and staff of NEOMED and the NEOMED Affiliated Hospital Libraries through the online library public access catalog (OPAC), discovery service, Integrated Library System (ILS)/Library Services Platform (LSP), Sierra, and other access points. Collaboratively with staff maintains the library system management and ensures that the collection meets the current and future needs of the University


PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Brief Detail of Responsibility
1) Determines collection strategy, considering OhioLINK resources as a major component of the collection. Oversees acquisition of library materials. Manages vendor relations, contracts, licensing, and price negotiations that support budgetary resources for collections.
2) Responsible for providing and overseeing integrated access to serials resources, both electronic and print, including cataloging, database maintenance activities, knowledge bases (EBSCO admin), collection development and discovery layer. Analysis of the use and performance of resources through data collection and data analysis for internal and external purposes.
3) Maintains the online library catalog content including quality control and electronic access to resources. Catalogs library materials. Maintains item records in the online library catalog. Troubleshoots e-access problems, working with appropriate technical staff, consortia staff, and content vendors. Liaison to Hospital Library Affiliates concerning collections, cataloging policies, licensing, and content access issues. Supervises 2 paraprofessional HelpDesk/Client Services staff, on-call staff and student assistants including hiring, scheduling, training, evaluation, and staff development
4) Serves on OhioLINK committees, participates on listservs, and assists in making recommendations to OhioLINK concerning new OhioLINK purchases and cataloging policies.
5) Prepares daily and monthly statistics for use in library, state, and national reports Participates in scholarly activities and professional development.
6) Perform other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Degrees: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution.

Preferred: Medical Library Association certification. Health science library experience.
Experience or knowledge of scholarly communication. Familiarity with National Library of Medicine (NLM) classification and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). OCLC cataloging.

Experience: 2 + years of professional library experience including experience in library technical services, collection development, serials, and/or cataloging and online library systems.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to utilize applicable equipment necessary for the job, as well as basic office equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, sit; talk; and hear. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
