Event Description
The newly established Multi-type Libraries Committee of the NEO-RLS Board welcomes you to join them for the first Network meeting focused on issues of interest and concern to archives, academic, school, and special libraries.  Join your colleagues to talk about staff and professional development opportunities needed to address the challenges in your environment.  This on-going group will be an opportunity to talk with your peers, learn from each other, engage speakers and collaborate.  The inaugural meeting will be focused on Library Collaborations and held via Zoom which is user-friendly for all devices.  Register today!  You will receive a link in your confirmation email and a reminder 2 hours before the meeting. We hope everyone interested in multi-type libraries and in collaboration projects will join us!  Our network groups are open to everyone in our region and are free.

Cleveland Law Library Collaborations
The Cleveland Law Library collaborates with the Cleveland Public Library (“CPL”) and CLEVNET in a number of ways. The Law Library has been a member of CLEVNET, a consortium of public and special libraries in northeast Ohio, since 1985. CLEVNET gave the Law Library its first OPAC, and today, CLEVNET provides many benefits to the Law Library, including an online catalog, email and network services, various library software and web ware, and outstanding tech support. In 1990, the Law Library’s membership in CLEVNET gave the Law Library its first taste of online research capabilities through an “Information Gateway” and FREENET. CLEVNET membership also allowed the Law Library to archive the opinions of the Eighth District Court of Appeals on the Law Library’s website for many years. Through a more recent agreement with CPL individually, the Law Library and CPL have been hosting joint book discussions on law-related topics since 2016: https://clevelandlawlibrary.org/public/misc/book%20discussion.html. Finally, as part of the Law Library’s 150th Anniversary celebration, Law Library Board members and employees helped to staff a Legal Aid Brief Advice Clinic at CPL’s downtown branch in May of 2019.  Come hear more about these various partnership initiatives.

Stark and Tuscarawas County Law Libraries Collaboration
Both the Stark and Tuscarawas County Law Libraries knew they had resources local attorneys needed, but many attorneys seemed unaware of what was available at the law libraries. Since Canton and New Philadelphia are only about 30 miles apart, often attorneys practice in both counties. The two libraries worked with a local marketing company to develop a print mailing, an informational video, and social media postings to highlight library services. Some of the proposed marketing efforts were interrupted by the pandemic, but the effort has benefited both libraries.  Learn more about how these two County Law Libraries worked together to benefit those needing their resources.
