You will hear a rapid-fire session of program ideas, have a chance to network with your peers and so much more.

Transforming Teen Services: Understanding Connected Learning (1 hour)
As libraries, we have the opportunity to be age-appropriate connected learning hubs in our communities. This workshop introduces participants to the core concept of Connected Learning (CL) and its six foundational pillars, and challenges them to think about how to apply CL to existing and/or new library programs and services.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the philosophy of Connected Learning as it relates to educational and career opportunities.
  • Explore the principles of Connected Learning.
  • Think about how to put Connected Learning theory into practice.
Presenters:  Steve Moser, Dayton Metro Library, Kristin Wilson, Loudonville Public Library and Janet Ingraham Dwyer, State Library of Ohio
Kristin, Steve, and Janet are the Ohio team of YALSA’s national Transforming Teen Services cohort.   Also active in an array of learning environments including OLC, Teen Think Tank, Take 5, and more, they do have day jobs: Kristin is Youth Services Librarian at Loudonville Public Library, Steve is Teen Services Coordinator at Dayton Metro Library, and Janet is Youth Services Consultant at the State Library of Ohio.
