Event Description
PALE (ProQuest Ancestry Library Edition) is one of four databases offered by the company. We will consider the scope of the database in overview mode to get comfortable with navigational principles at work in the interface. Then, we’ll take a more systematic approach to the tools used within the database, also pointing out the genealogy concepts and supporting resources that anyone needs to make better use of the product. By the end of three hours, you should be able to help others plan and execute basic strategies for research and discovery across the massive collections of records that have been gathered in PALE. This is a hands-on class with limited seats register soon.
Presenter: Walter Lesch has been helping others with the internet longer than OPLIN has existed. He became one of the first OPLIN trainers in 1998, and he’s had the word “train” in his job titles ever since. Earning an MLIS from Kent State in 2009, he lives in Cleveland and works for Rocky River Public Library. Light refreshments will be provided.
