The adventure begins with getting to know new people with a fun icebreaker will generate many program ideas. Then we will learn about adult escape rooms with a virtual element. Next, we will have a conversation about speakers and organizations to partner with, so bring your best contacts. Before lunch, we will have a rapid-fire craft program. After lunch, we will be hosting a program palooza. You will have an opportunity to hear 7 different programs and ask questions. We will end the day by learning how NEO-RLS's VR kits can offer exciting adventures at your library as well as a round table discussion to share ideas, talk about prizes, and explore tracking solutions. More details will be coming soon. Don't miss this fun-filled day and opportunity to connect with your colleagues.\n\nBuilding an Escape Room, Step by Step \nAdventure awaits in every Escape Room! This session will focus on attracting adult audiences to your next escape room for this year’s summer reading theme. Building an escape room from scratch sounds intimidating but break down the planning process into bite-sized pieces, including adding digital elements, and you will soon become a mastermind with a framework you can use again and again with new themes to keep your participants coming back for more. \n\nPresenter:\nDani Hollar is a Branch Manager with Geauga County Public Library. Dani earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hiram College, where she now sits on the Friends of the Hiram College Library Board; and her M.L.I.S. from Kent State University. Over her 18 years working in libraries, Dani has worn many hats including Page, Circulation Clerk, Reference Librarian and more, but finds the greatest joy in planning programs and supporting her staffs’ development. \n\n\nAdventures in Crafting\nJoin Paula Wagner for a romp through a world of crafts inspired by the Adult Summer Reading theme "Adventure Begins at your Library". A variety of interpretations on the SRP theme will be explored, using the following techniques/projects: mixed media collage, altered books, book nooks, decoupage, stenciling, wood crafts, and more!\n \nEach Palooza attendee will make a sample craft to take and use, and will receive a packet of project sheets (with cost per person) for each of the featured crafts.\n\n\nPresenter:\nPaula Wagner is the Head of Adult Services/Assistant Branch Manager for the Middlefield Branch of the Geauga County Public Library System. Librarianship is Paula's second career after working as a Software Developer for 10 years. Paula was a runner-up for the Northeastern Ohio Regional Library System's Rising Star Award in 2016; and was featured in an article on OCLC's WebJunction in 2021 for her We’re Not Complete Without You: a collaborative puzzle project.
